From Me to You.

Picture: We heart it

Another year is about to End.

I find it hard to believe that today is officially the last day of 2010. I'm working on a list that I published last year with questions + answers to sum up the year. Anyway after making different plans for the evening I ended up staying at home with my beloved ones and I could not be happier :)

Considering the cold snowstorm that is going on outdoors I am glad that I can stay warm and indoors instead of being outside struggling to get to a party somewhere. To be completely honest I believe that this type of celebration is a bit overrated.

For many this feast only circulates about alcohol which I think is very sad. Instead it should be about spending time with the people you care about the most. As long as we are together and that we all remain in good health that's all that truly matters.

Work, work, work.

Picture: Zara

I apologize for my absence and lack of posts but as you can see above I've been quite busy at work due to the big Christmas SALE at Zara which begun last Sunday. It has literally been a crazy week with nothing but work, work, work. Luckily today was my day off and I've had time to relax and simply enjoy the afternoon at home.

This is my second time working during a SALE at the big company and I must say that people go mad at our store. For some reason this is the only time of the year when certain visitors release their inner "beasts" inside and run amok. One of my colleagues had suffered the other day when a customer had pulled her hair in order to get a hold of a dress that was hanging only a few metres away. Talking about crazy working conditions. Luckily I have the best colleagues in the world ♥

Beside all the chaos that I've experienced during this hard week I've actually been able to find a few good bargains at our store. A pair of classic black pumps, a black blouse with cute white dots (very preppy), another blue checked blouse, a light pink coloured 100% cashmere sweater and a LBD (little black dress) perfect for New Year's Eve! :) I'll show you pictures later!

Christmas Day.

Good day to you all! :) I hope you were able to spend yesterday's Christmas Eve with family and beloved friends. My father and I came in for about one hour ago after talking a long winter walk in a very windy and cold weather outdoors. Still after eating so much good food one absolutely needs to get a bit of fresh air so we enjoyed it.

These last three years a new Narnia film has had its premier on Christmas Day. My family and I have therefore made it a small tradition to go and see each and of them on this very day. This year is no exception ;) I'm looking forward to see The Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader (see trailer)

Wrap it Up.

I've been busy all day preparing for the last things for tomorrow. I've spent tonight's evening on my bedroom floor where I've been wrapping up Christmas presents. Every year I try to come up with different theme of how to decorate our Christmas tree where the presents also follow the same thread :)

This year's theme and colours are rusty red, frosty white and golden details. I found two beautiful papers to wrap up my presents with, I'll try to take pictures of them tomorrow. They are both classic yet simple, this year I decided to skip all the "little people" and many of the typical old fashioned papers. It's fun to have different themes every year, a bit of variation does not hurt the creative mind ;) I better continue otherwise I'll be stuck here all night. Sweet dreams!

Remember This.

"Nobody has it easy. Everybody has problems whether its friends, family, school, money, food or even shelter. You don't know what they go through. Nobody is perfect, nobody deserves to be perfect. So before you start judging, criticizing or mock somebody remember everybody is fighting their own war."

Vintage Details.

Picture - Private, taken with my iPhone

Some of you who might have read my previous post about the joy I felt when I found this "vintage" (not really but it's five years old now..) Mulberry Bayswater. I have actually worn it everyday since I got it, I absolutely love it.

Considering it's been such a great term at school I had to reward myself with two other little gifts, as seen on the picture three true vintage books and an adorable dachshund made out of a mixture of different patterns where the majority of the fabric is very similar to tweed.

The little dog is brand new though, I fell for it when I saw it in one of the big malls in town. Actually these details can be seen as a good clues for how I'd like to decorate my future home. At the same time I love minimalistic white spaces but I'd love to add some brown/vintage details to it too, in order to make it a little bit more personal ;)

One of my first goals in 2011 is actually to redecorate my bedroom. I have so many different ideas and I'm sure it will end up looking great! There will be "before" photos and "after" photos I promise :) Anyway I better put aside my ideas now that I'm heading towards bed. Sweet dreams!

Baby It's Cold Outside.

Oh my, it's -18 °C today, speaking of a typical Swedish winter. I guess one needs to put on the entire equipment i.e. big winter boots, warm cap, knitted gloves, warm scarf and my big + clumsy Michelin-look-alike jacket from North Face. It's very warm, still one looks like a black round ball in it. As long as I'm warm I don't care about it.

Anyway I'm going to defy this awful cold winter weather by going to town anyway. Still it would have been lovely to stay indoors all cuddled up beneath a warm blanket, a hot cup of coco and a good film. Perhaps that's something I can reward myself with later when I return back home ;)

I better get ready, my train leaves soon. I wish you all a Wonderful Wednesday!

Terrific Tuesday.

Mood: Nothing but smiles, only three days left to Christmas Eve :)
Done: Breakfast, read & answered e-mails, made up plans for the day
Plans: Shower up next & a short trip into town for the last Christmas gifts
Looking at: The magic winterland outdoors, photo shoot outdoors tomorrow
Listening to: Jay Smith - Dreaming People
Reading: Note to oneself - I must begin with my pile of Christmas literature
Drinking: Cool water and I will make myself a hot cup of chocolate later ;)
Eating: Lunch up next - did I say it's Christmas? (Equals to Christmas food!)
Best: I'm officially on Christmas Holidays - enjoying every day of it :)
Worst: It's way too cold outdoors, I love the snow but not the temperature!
Weather: Cold and slippery :/ but breathtaking - I'll show you pictures later

Amid The Falling Snow - Enya.

Picture: We heart it

"Maybe I am falling down
Tell me should I touch the ground
Maybe I won`t make a sound
In the darkness all around

The silence of a winter's night
Brings memories I hold inside
Remembering a blue moonlight
Upon the fallen snow ... "

The Wedding.

I never thought I'd see you cry nor did I expect to hear you lie. One thing still remains certain, I've never seen you so alive. In silence and with closed eyelids I held my breath and counted to five.

With an illuminating lace that embraced her chest in harmony and fair hair to her waist the bride awaited with butterflies within her veins at the beginning of the aisle. Her soul mate standing patiently at the other side of the room, admiring his angel who soon would become his bride and her angelic smile.

With a breathtaking gown, oh so white, as ivory and the whitest snow she lightened up the candle lit room. Clearly the focus was on the bride but one should not forget about the handsome and tall groom. Both of them walked towards each other in full bloom.

He took a gentle grip of her hand and opened up the palm only to see her vein of where their love always appears. She smiled with all her heart where the overwhelming emotions appeared in happy tears. Hi kissed her hand in a way of trying to sooth her nerves and said politely, "I will now read you my vow, listen carefully my dear."

I sometimes think I was born in the wrong Era.

Picture: Theme - Romantic Era (Click to enlarge!) - Collage made by me (pictures found through Google)

I often have the feeling that I might have been born in the wrong Era. If there had been a possibility to change the time and place I would have gone back to the 17th and 18th century. Preferably around the epoch when the English novelist Jane Austen published her first novels. The elegant fashion and style would have suited me well as the hairdos, manners and last but not least to live in the English countryside.

Still I must say that one can add smaller details from these eras and add them to the more modern lifestyle of 2010. For example I very often use braids in all different kinds of ways and try not to use as much make-up during the day - evenings are the only exception when a fun party awaits :) Anyway I'm still thinking about drawing my own wedding dress that I hopefully shall be able to wear some day. Can you guess where I most likely will find my inspiration? ;)

Christmas Holidays.

I can't believe it's Saturday already and that I've officially begun my so much longed Christmas Holidays! :) Yesterday I decided to surprise my colleagues at work by bringing a cake to work today since tomorrow I've been 6 months at the company, crazy how time flies!

Anyway I'm glad that I have an entire week to rest and to do absolutely nothing but spend time with my beloved ones ♥ Oh my, I just realized it's Christmas Eve on Friday.. Yes I admit it, I have a few presents to buy. Hopefully I'll manage it before Thursday. It's been such a long day and I can't wait to get some rest. Sweet dreams to you all!

Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Picture: Kyssjohanna

Take a look at this pair of absolutely stunning earrings from the Swedish web shop Kyssjohanna. The perfect jewellery for Christmas or New Year's Eve! Unfortunately they are already out of stock but hopefully they might sell them again after Christmas. Perhaps I will get them as a late Christmas gift or an early birthday present since I'm born in January ;) We'll see..

My apologize.

I want to apologize for my absence but these last two weeks have been crazy at school and so has work. Tomorrow is officially my last day with my classmates and after that I'll finally be able to fully celebrate and enjoy the Holidays.

Beneath all the stress I'm doing good. So far I've only scored A's in every subject and I feel so proud of myself. I hope you can all understand that I'm not saying this but to brag but to simply express the joy of finally being able to gain such high grades. I've never been an A student, not previously anyway, I guess that it's one of the good things that has changed and as a result of getting older.

Anyway it's been a terrific Thursday sofar and I feel like I owe myself some "me-time" which is why I've arranged a "mini-spa" tonight. I promise I'll write again soon, in fact I have a pair of earrings I must show you, I'm head over heels in love with them :) Later!

The perfect autumn/winter outfit if you would ask me! I actually had to buy the gorgeous sweater through Lindex's shop online. I love the brown patches on the arms! The perfect blue jeans that one can wear with simply anything in the wardrobe and to beautiful basics, warm UGGS and my favourite bag the oak coloured Mulberry Bayswater.

2: My first Love.

Some people say that one can never compare other relationships with the first Love. When I think of my first true love I don't refer to any of the teenage "flings" that I had, when one believed that the boy I had just met was real love, when only a few weeks later they might have forgotten all about you and moved on to the next girl in the class.

Instead my thoughts are occupied of the first time I actually felt the meaning behind the words, I love you. I actually never said the words to the person whom I truly loved with all my heart but the opportunity was never given. In fact it wasn't until after that I stopped seeing him that I realized how much he truly meant to me and the fact that it has taken several years for me to get over him. Although I have understood now that a part of me will always love him, no matter what.

For some reason there are certain emotions that are very hard to describe. There are simply not enough words to describe feelings that may occur when two people fall in love. For example I loved the way he could always make me laugh and feel good inside. The way we connected and could talk for hours just like two old friends. Whenever he was around I always felt so safe and somehow could always escape to his warm embrace.

He was that special someone and somehow will always be. After all he was my first true love and the one person who taught me all that I know about the subject. That is why he deserves all my heart's respect.

Daydreaming just a little bit.

Picture: Collage made by me (pictures are from We heart it)

Spectacular Scotland - I can't help it but it's all I daydream about these days.. I'm planning on going there someday soon, preferably next autumn! Something to look forward too! :) With my Hunter boots and forest green oil coat/jacket I'll be ready for a weekend out in the countryside. Lovely and I just can't wait!

Make a Difference.

"In the darkest of nights I found her standing all alone staring beneath a diamond sky. I could see it was cold outside only by looking at her frozen tears that were left on her rosy cheeks. Her name was Alice. She used to be my kindred spirit and most beloved bosom friend.

With a skin as pale and delicate like the English rose, an angelic temper that would never hurt anyone not even a fly and with two smiling eyes which would always seem friendly. Although somehow I always knew, beneath this perfect surface lied the frightened soul of a seven-year-old.

Her mother was an alcoholic and her father an abuser. Alice experienced it several times per week and saw with her own eyes. There are no words to describe the terror that had filled her home, heart and soul. Unfortunately no one interfered until it was too late. Sadly it ended very badly and little Alice committed suicide at the age of twelve."

The text above is fiction and I was inspired by the Swedish organization BRIS (Children's Rights in Society). For those of you who are struggling with your Christmas presents this year, why not donate an amount to an organization that do good for the younger generation of children and infants all over the world? I will give away an amount and I suggest you do too!

Send your donations to the Swedish Postal account: 90 15 04-1 or visit their website for more information! (Click here!)

Christmas Details for every Home.

Picture: Collage made by me (pictures from Cox & Cox)

As I was searching for inspiration online while eating breakfast this morning I happened to enter this wonderful British website called Cox & Cox. Here I found this adorable wooden star, silver candlesticks and vintage canvas weekend bag. Perfect Christmas details to decorate every home. I'm very tempted to buy the candlesticks but first on my shopping list are the Christmas gifts ;)

Besides the New York trip was an early Christmas present to myself. Although my birthday is coming up soon which reminds me of today's date - 1st of December! Only 23 days to go.. I wish you all a beautiful day!

Tuesday 30 November 2010

Getting ready for Christmas.

While listening to wonderful jazz notes (Polka Dots and Moonbeams is great!) by Chet Baker I'm dreaming about going back to New York. I feel so sad to have missed all the Christmas decorations in the city even though we did manage to see a little before leaving on our last day.

I've actually been listening to Christmas medleys non-stop these last few weeks in order to get in the correct Christmas mood. Still I haven't had the time for gift shopping, baking and the traditional Christmas market at Skansen. This weekend it's all going to happen and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm glad that my snowflake is now up and shining in my bedroom window and so are my new white "God Jul" (translation: Merry Christmas) letters too. Still there are more details I want to add to our home before I can say that it really feels like Christmas ;) I'll be working on it and more pictures will come I promise! Anyway it's time to get some sleep. Sweet dreams to you all!

1: About Me.

I was born on the 26th of January 1988 in Hudiksvall, Sweden. According to my parents it was a very cold winter day and it had been snowing a lot on that same day. It took almost 24 hours before I came out and lightened up my parent's faces with my round and chubby cheeks. My mother have always told me that I was very happy little baby and that I couldn't stop smiling. It has continued since then :)

My first two and a half years was spent in Hudiksvall (in the northern parts of Sweden) where the oldest of my two younger brothers also was born. When he was barely one year old and I believe that I had turn three years old my family moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

My father who back then worked for the Swedish company Ericsson received a two year contract which we were to spend there. A few years later we moved to Mexico City. My youngest brother was born there in November 1993. I remember more from Mexico than from Brazil probably because I was a lot older during our second move. I have many good memories from these early years.

However we returned to Sweden during the summer of 1995 and that was the same year I started first grade in a Swedish school. Previously I had only attended English schools while living abroad. I have always enjoyed learning new languages and I am happy to say that I speak both English and Swedish fluently besides that I also have good commands within the Spanish and German languages.

If we wind forward and pass both preschool, junior level (the first three grades), middle school until the upper level of compulsory school one can say that my greatest interests were my friends were very important and so was my passion for music. I've been singing since I was seven years old and play an instrument called Key fiddle. Besides that I tried out many different kinds of sports where tennis and horseback riding became my favourite sports.

During the summer of 2003 I attended a three weeks confirmation camp in Strömstad (western parts of Sweden, close to Gothenburg). I had so much fun during those three weeks and therefore decided to start working as a leader on upcoming confirmation camps arranged by the church in our town in Strömstad for the following three summers in a row. The church that I was confirmed in Strömstad is absolutely beautiful and I have a dream to perhaps get married in that church. But we'll see about that ;)

In may 2007 I graduated after three years studying at the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. After that I've spent most of my time working within fashion as a salesman at both Swedish and International companies such as Jackpot, Newhouse and last but not least Zara where I'm currently working at Scandinavia's flagship store in Stockholm. Besides work I've been studying a few courses only to try to decide what to do in the future. My plan is to apply for University later this upcoming fall (2011).

I have so many goals that I wish to accomplish and so little time. Hopefully I'll make out the best of it and enjoy every day that pass us by. Another dream of mine is to live on the countryside surrounded by mountains or big lakes. A husband and family of my own to love and cherish and a career that will keep me busy during the week where I hopefully will be able to teach others and watch how these younger individuals grow.

I think people that know me well would describe me as ambitious, kind, loyal, loving, stubborn, sensitive and mostly very happy :) I don't know what pictures my readers in the blog have of me hopefully it's positive!

There you go. This was a small part about me, don't hesitate to ask questions/comments if you like. Time for lunch and after that I'll be heading towards work. Have a great day everybody!

A list on a Tueday.

Mood: Woke up with an awful headache, glad I'm feeling a little bit better now
Done: Breakfast, read & answered e-mails, made up plans for the day
Plans: Shower up next & study during the day and work in the afternoon
Looking at: My laptop's screen/The magical winter wonderland outdoors
Listening to: Rihanna - What's My Name?
Reading: I've been reading a few of my favourite blogs & read class notes later
Drinking: Orange juice - I shouldn't have, no good for my teeth
Eating: I just finished breakfast, might do a hot chicken soup for lunch
Best: I've got a free weekend = Christmas shopping & baking with my family
Worst: Very busy week with both work & essays that are due this Friday
Weather: "Let it Snow.." Thin snowflakes keep on falling down. Magical!

NY pictures - part ten.

Pictures taken during our visit to Carneige Hall & during our Christmas shopping

Our last day was spent in town where we decided to pay the famous concert hall Carneige Hall a visit. We had an amazing guide who literally knew everything about the building, it's history and the artists who have sung in it. I was so impressed by the beautiful stage and the breathtaking set of lamps in the ceiling which is a replicate of the engagement ring of Mr. Carnegie's ring that he gave to his wife - so romantic!

Still what I loved the most about the visit was that the guide actually let me stand by the stage and sing a Swedish Christmas medley in order to try out the spectacular acoustic. I was very moved and honoured to be able to sing and the thought that one of my greatest idols Frank Sinatra had stood there too and sung several of his most popular songs in this same room made my nerves bolt. It went good and I am proud to say that I have sung in Carnegie Hall! :)

After that we went for some sightseeing where we bumped into the famous "Love statue" and a adorable little Christmas shop called The Christmas Cottage. I bought a few cute souvenirs to hang in our Christmas tree. After ten AMAZING days in New York this was our last day. I had so much fun and believe me when I say that this might have been my first time in the Big Apple but not the last!

First Sunday of Advent 2010.

The countdown has finally begun, only three weeks to Christmas! I spent most of the day yesterday working but in the evening I celebrated the First Sunday of Advent with my beloved ones ♥ Besides, it's been snowing like crazy this last week and it's cold, very cold about -12°C.

I hope you all had a great start of the new week :) This week's goal: finish all Christmas shopping! Small but thoughtful gifts is this year's theme for family & friends. I promise to write a post with tips of what to give later!

Friday 26 November 2010

Good Morning Friday.

Pictures: Collage made by me, pictures taken with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

There is simply no better way to start a day like this, with warm candles and a hot cup of tea. I love my new candlesticks from Nordljus and as you can see on the picture above behind them hangs a photograph (actually it is a postcard) of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden and Prince Daniel.

They make such a handsome couple and I love this particular black and white picture of the two that was published before their wedding earlier this year. I have a day off today from both work and the practice so I'm planning on studying most of the day. Besides that I should try to get outdoors and go for a long walk since we literally have a white wonderland outside, I love it! :)

Thirty Days.

I found this cute list of different subjects to blog/write about at Leja's blog. I believe one is supposed to write about one subject per day but there might be a few days in between them so I hope you won't get crossed with me for not writing them in the following order ;)

They are all fun topics and perhaps some of you are curious to get a better picture of who I am therefore these answers might be fun to read! I would like to write honest and proper answers, that is why there might be a few days between the posts.

Anyway the first topic "About Me" will show up here later today so stay tuned :) I wish you all a Fantastic Friday!

NY pictures - part nine.

Pictures taken during our visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art (We did pass Guggenheim too as seen on the picture above, it's the white building in the left top corner!)

Eurpean Art (there were 2,200 pieces!) Artists represented: Monet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and many more!

Mixed pictures from the MET (Metropolitan Museum), window shopping in Upper East side, Times Square in the night & one of the many highlights from our trip: Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical

Spa Evening.

After a long and intense day I thought of arranging a smaller spa evening in our bathroom tonight. After dinner a long and warm shower will be waiting for me with following home made treatments for both body & face. Lovely!

I even bought new vanilla scented candles, so cosy and something I've been looking forward all afternoon after a long walk out in the cold. I believe my little feet will thank me later ;) Perfect way to end a long day and hopefully I'll get enough sleep tonight. Preparations for dinner is up next, chicken - my favourite!

Happy Birthday B!

Picture: Collage made by me :)

Whenever I feel blue you're always there to brighten my day. I admire you for all your knowledge about common things such as computers and plants, I even wish I had green fingers like you do! I love you B, you're such a good brother and person! Keep it that way :) Happy Birthday, I wish you all the best

Monday = New Week.

Good evening to you all, I hope you've had a good day! This week started off great and I feel so happy to say that I have several new & fun things going on. For example, today I had my first day at a four weeks practical training at a school nearby where I will be working with disabled children. It's been such a busy yet wonderful day with many new faces & impressions to take in.

On Wednesday night I'm invited by C, a good friend of mine to attend her annual Christmas Coffee where we actually won't be drinking traditional coffee but instead traditional Swedish Glögg (mulled wine/warm red-wine punch). I'm bringing my good friend E, so hopefully she and I will have a great time in the company of C and her other friends.

Thursday afternoon I'll be babysitting two boys that I've gotten to know through a previous practical training that I did at another preschool during last spring. I love these two adorable boys E & E, 2 + 4 years old. In the evening my other friend E has invited my to join her to go and listen to a few musicians that will be playing Nyckelharpa - the same instrument that I play. I'm sure that there will be dance as well, looking forward to it too!

Busy week in other words with other things going on. Still I have to say I'm glad it's Monday which equals a new week. Besides, there are other reasons for why today is such a special day. I'll tell you why in a few minutes ;) Stay tuned!

NY pictures - part eight.

Pictures taken at Wall Street, Grand Central Terminal & Ground Zero

Time Square & Meatpacking District - the pumpkins were huge!

Pictures: Collage made by me, pictures taken with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

NY - Day Eight.

New York is a big and very busy city especially around the Wall Street district which was our main goal today. On our way we passed the beautiful Grand Central Terminal. If I'd live somewhere else in America I would have loved to have taken the train to NY, what a fun experience!

The high and white stone walls were very impressive not to mention the glittering chandeliers in the ceiling. There have been several Hollywood recordings for great films and TV-shows within this building. For example, in the first episode of Gossip Girl Serena Van Der Woodsen appears on the main stairs of Grand Central. Fancy that, I've been standing there too! ;)

Wall Street was also amazing with it's high buildings and crowded streets where most of the people we bumped into wore grey or black suits. Strict and professional. We walked around a few blocks and had a warm cup of chocolate at Financier Patisserie. Afterwards we continued our trip towards Ground Cero to visit The World Trade Center area where they are now rebuilding it. I thought about the chaos that the citizens of New York must have experienced that day.. Awful.

Later we jumped on the subway and headed towards Meatpacking District. We entered an old building that had lots of special grocery shops including fresh fish, meat, fruits & vegetables - where the pumpkin was in focus due to Halloween of course.

I bumped into yet another cute bakery called Elenis which had all the colourful cupcakes in the world and other cookies that I'd love to bring back home. Anyway I managed to take some pictures of them! Take a look at the upcoming collage later. We had yet another pretty long day with many long walks so in the afternoon we headed back to hotel and fell asleep due to exhaustion, with that said in a good way ;)

Cognac Piece of Leather.

Picture: Collage made by me (Picture nr 2 to the right - Sofi's snapshots)

I completely fell in love with this gorgeous little piece from H&M when I saw it on Sofi Fahrman, Swedish fashion journalist and writer. Therefore I was so happy when I found it at H&M's webshop and it arrived earlier this week.

Unfortunately I was a bit too optimistic about the size, I ordered an European size 36 which is far too small :( So hopefully I'll be able to exchange it for a bigger size. I love the cognac colour and the fact that the leather is so soft and smooth. The perfect spring/early autumn jacket!

Sunday's List.

Mood: Nothing but smiles, slept like a princess :)
Done: Breakfast, checked my e-mail, made up plans for the day
Plans: Bake, clean/tidy up my bedroom, study & power-walk later!
Looking at: My laptop's screen/The dull grey display outdoors
Listening to: Rihanna - What's My Name?
Reading: Nothing yet but I'll be reading class notes later
Drinking: Only cool water
Eating: I just finished a delicious bowl of muesli
Best: One of my favourites B will be 17 tomorrow ♥ I love you bro!
Worst: Awful grey weather, perfect for studying though
Weather: Cold, grey, wet & rainy weather - sets today's mood

NY pictures - part seven.

Pictures: Collage made by me, pictures taken with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

NY - Day Seven.

During our seventh day in the "Big Apple" we decided to visit a traditional GreenFlea Market. We headed out early and took the Subway towards town. After a few minutes walk we ended up in a huge school, where the school yard was filled with tables and little tents where people had lined up with both spices, food, furniture, clothes and so much more!

Most of the items were vintage - a perfect place to make good bargains! Still there were also things that could be considered as "junk" too so one had to look closely. I found two beautiful rings, the so called Claddagh Ring from Ireland but the first was too small to fit my finger and the other one was a bit expensive, still it was made out of 18K Gold and felt very "heavy" on my finger. Hopefully I'll find one when I visit Ireland ;)

Most of the morning was spent there as we circulated around all the little tables which were covered with fancy pieces. However, in the afternoon we went back to Central Park to see more of the enormous but breathtaking park. My favourite spot during the entire trip! We stopped by the restaurant The Boathouse to have some hot chocolate and cookies.

On our way back to the hotel we passed by a spot in Central Park which was filled with people. We were curious and decided to check what these people were looking at and as we got closer we saw a big circle made out of mosaic were the word "Imagine" had been written. Beautiful and so we understood that it had been made to honour The Beatles member John Lennon. Check out the pictures I'll post here within a few minutes! :)

Soft Saturday.

Finally, the weekend is here! After such an intense week with work and classes I have some free time for myself and my family. Tonight we're all going to see "Harry potter and the deathly hallows" which I've been looking forward to the entire week!

My bedroom is a complete mess so perhaps I need spend some time cleaning it before we'll be heading towards the cinema. First up: Lunch! Have a great day everyone!

NY - Day Six.

On our sixth day we decided to talk a walk across the famous Brooklyn Bridge. It took 16 years to build this enormous bridge where people today use it mainly for transportation by car, bike, subway or by walking. It was sunny but very windy that day which made me wish for a warm cap.

Nevertheless we walked along with hundreds of other tourists, we did not expect it to be that popular? It was early in the morning and luckily the sky was clear so we could see all the way to the Statue of Liberty and the high buildings along the side of Manhattan.

There was so much activity going on the bridge that day. We did see lots of tourists but also a smaller group of athletes that were recording some sort of work out programme on the bridge with cameras and everything. There they were jogging and doing exercises in small shorts and tank tops while it was windy and very very cold. I just hope they didn't get sick after that.

Besides us ordinary people I also passed a celebrity on the bridge, Michael Moore and another female who I assume was his personal trainer. It felt cool to have seen a celebrity in this big city! Afterwards when we returned to the mainland we went to discover an area called "Little Italy".

If it had not been for all the big buildings that are seen everywhere in NY I'd thought we had left the country and suddenly jumped in an Italian neighbourhood. People spoke Italian on the streets and lots of small restaurants were lined up next to each other as we kept walking. I had the best pasta & mozzarella during this entire journey that day. Perhaps because it was Italian ;)

After lunch we continued our walked and went by many cute little cafés, shops and restaurants before we reached Macy's. It was yet another day of long strolls around the city's spectacular areas.

Guess if I was happy that I brought good walking shoes? Otherwise my feet would have killed me. Still it really made me feel like a tourist. A happy tourist with happy feet :)

Soft Saturday.

I spent most of the day at work today, it was busy and crowded like any Saturday in the greatest shopping street in Stockholm. It was a perfect day for shopping to be honest. I've had a soft evening though, played a few tunes on the guitar and I might turn in soon.

No matter how much I love to serve customers and working with my wonderful colleagues for they truly are the greatest ♥ I must admit that the work we perform (my colleagues and I) really is physically demanding where I always feel completely exhausted after a full day. I don't know how some of my friends have the strength to go out partying after a day like this? I certainly don't.

Could this be a bad sign though? I mean I'm not even 23 years old and I feel like I'm 32. Weird. Somehow I think that my physics isn't that good, if I improve it I'll probably have more energy to do other things. Something to think about. Anyway hope you had a great Saturday, can't wait to fall asleep! Sweet dreams!

Up and Running.

Picture: We heart it

Good morning, I'm soo happy it's finally Friday. I could have slept a few more hours but I needed to get up early so that I could continue practising for today's presentation. I'll be talking about stress - which I find to be a very interesting phenomenon.

If only there had been a Starbucks nearby, a hot chocolate would have been nice on the subway. By the way, I just love Starbucks new Christmas theme on their mugs. All I want for Christmas is more Snow & Starbucks..!

NY - Day Five.

Today was one of the best days in New York! I'd been looking forward to visit some of the city's most famous museum and on this day we woke up early and headed towards "MoMa" also known as The Museum of Modern Art.

Luckily my father and I bought a two-ticket combination while we were at The Top of The Rock/Rockefeller Center so we did not have to line up in the very loong line inside. We could therefore easily leave our jackets in their wardrobe and after that enter this enormous maze (it might sound crazy but it really felt like we were inside a modern maze).

The building consisted of six floors all full of modern art! We saw many classic & cool paintings all painted from famous artists from all over the world. A few of my favourites were; Edvard Munch, Odilon Redon, Florine Stettheimer, Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol.

They also had a new exhibition about "The Home", one could see everything that we humans have used in our ordinary homes from the early 19th century up until today. There were cars, motorcycles, furniture and so much more. I had such a great time! I'm glad we spent so much time there.

Anyway afterwards we went to visit the famous mall called Macy's. We had late lunch/early dinner there and relaxed a bit while doing some shopping. I even ended up buying two more cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery before we turned back home to the hotel ;) By then we were exhausted and went to bed around 10 PM. I slept like a princess dreaming of those delicious cupcakes ^^.

The World's Greatest Sorcerer.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 - In Swedish cinemas on the 17th of November 2010! I have already booked the tickets for that same weekend to go and see it with my family. I'm so excited! Watch the trailer here.

Under construction.

I'll be working on the blog's appearance for a few days to make a few changes. As you can see I've added a new "frame" on top today, do you like it? :) Your honest opinion matters to me!

Since it's Autumn almost Winter (!) and we're heading towards Christmas I'd like to have a darker background colour so you can see the beautiful snowfall I've added to the main page. Anyway like I said it will probably take a few days (the html codes have become more difficult to understand than they used to be..) but be patient, I'm sure the end result will be great!

Enough said for today, I better start getting ready for bed since I've got a long day tomorrow. Sweet dreams to you all!

NY - Day Four.

My father and I woke up to sunshine coming outside the bedroom window and the unbelievable heat was still a fact, 23 °C outdoors is very unusual for November in NY. After a good breakfast we headed out and today's schedule said United Nations Headquarters.

It was yet another huge building containing so much history and art all gathered from so many different countries around the globe. We decided to join a tour where a guide showed us around and told us about the different projects that are led and have been led by the UN. Luckily our group was allowed to enter the General Assembly Hall and it was so beautiful!

Afterwards we headed back to town and visited the famous Rockefeller Center. I'd been looking forward to this special building since I've seen it in so many good American films. It was a lot prettier in reality than the pictures I'd seen of it previously. In the afternoon we also bought tickets to go up in their so called "Top of the Rock" - 70 floors above the ground. It was an amazing view to see entire Manhattan from above. Besides we were able to see it during daylight and since it got dark around 5.30 PM we also saw the gorgeous sunset and all the lights turn on from the streets down below. Truly it was spectacular!

When we came down I passed by one of New York's most known bakeries namely Magnolia bakery. Both my father and I went out very happy from the store since they also had a delicious dark chocolate cookie that was gluten free (my father is allergic to gluten) so we were all smiles :)

Dear Santa.

♥ A beige bag-in-bag - The best way to put the contents within my handbag in one movement to my oak leather Mulberry Bayswater. No more searching around, I'll be able to find everything at first glance! The perfect product to those who like to switch handbags.

A golden Irish Claddagh ring - Its beautiful and distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands) and loyalty (the crown).

♥ Weekendtrips/Longer trip during Spring/Summer next year. Destinations I'd like to go to are: England (Bath & London), France (Paris), Ireland (Dublin), Scotland (Glasgow & St Andrews), Spain (Barcelona), USA

♥ I'm collecting the classic Jane Austen novels from the Penguin Classics. I have Pride & Prejudice & Persuassion and would love to add Northanger Abbey to my bookshelf.

♥ The famous golden necklace from SATC which Carrie wore throughout the TV-serie. I've realized that I prefer gold before silver jewellery and would therefore love to carry a similar necklace but with my name on it. I'm afraid Liv might be to short therefore I would choose my second name, Sofia.

♥ It seems as if I've only collected pearl earrings sofar, which is why a new pair of earrings such as these cute ribbons would be perfect for special occasions.

Talking about a perfect autumn outfit! I love how the Swedish fashion oracle Elin Kling mixes her white basic shirt with her sharp black boots from Alexander Wang. Not to mention the hot slim jeans! She most certainly managed to pull it off and rock that outfit!

Details: Belt from Acne, shirt from Rodebjer and jeans from The Local Firm

NY - Day Three.

During our third day in the big city my father and I decided to visit the colourful spot Times Square in the morning where despite of the fact that it was midday nearly all lights were switched on and flashing when we walked by. The enormous and almost vivid (!) posters from different brands caught our eyes when we passed the big buildings.

Our plan was to spend most of the day at the popular outlet named Woodbury Common, Premium Outlets. We bought tickets at the bus terminal close to Times Square and the bus ride itself lasted for about one hour. We arrived around 12 PM and decided to have a coffee at Starbucks before checking out the giant map of the 220 outlet stores to mark which stores where worth looking up.

We started together but ended up on two different sides of the big lot since we realized that we wanted to visit different stores ;) The hours literally ran away and suddenly the time was 6 PM and it had gotten all pitch black outdoors. We ended up on a bus back to the city around 8 PM and when we got back to the hotel we fell asleep early. Poor feet, all exhausted from all shopping and walking during the day.

It was fun though! I'd been looking forward to it before coming to NY and I must say that it was worth the effort. I bought a few classic cotton & wool sweaters, a blouse, a brown belt, lots of underwear! After all brands such as Calvin Klein are so expensive in Sweden yet cheap in the USA. I'll make sure to visit Woodbury Common the next time I'll be heading towards the city.

Back to Business.

Today was my first day at work after my lovely vacation. It feels good to be back and to see all the happy faces, truly I have the greatest colleagues among all Zara stores! Anyway a new week starts tomorrow, I've planned to go to the gym in the morning and I also have a class in the afternoon.

Unfortunately my body is still in New York time and I truly hope that the jet lag will disappear by tomorrow morning. My father told me it can take up to one entire week before the body has adjusted to the new time, I hope that won't be the case for me.. More info about NY will come up tomorrow since I've decided to try to get some sleep, I'll be needing it tomorrow. Sweet dreams!

NY pictures - part two.

Our afternoon in Greenwich Village

NY - Day Two.

On our second day in the Big Apple we decided to visit Liberty Island to see the French architect Frédéric Bartholdi's masterpiece, The Statue of Liberty. After a steady breakfast we took the subway and went to the southern point in lower Manhattan. After buying our tickets we had to stand in a very long cue, it took us between 2-3 hours (!) before we could go through security and enter the fairy that would take us to the Island.

The magnificent monument left me breathless on the fairy as my eyes widened the closer we got the shore. If you ever decide to visit this amazing city this is something you must see! Believe me when I say, truly it was worth standing in that very long cue because I enjoyed every minute on the fairy towards and from the island. For some reason my heart was filled with feelings such as hope, honesty, honour after visiting this bright star, an iconic symbol of freedom and of the United States.

When we got back to the mainland we got on the subway and headed towards "Soho" and the area called Greenwich Village. We passed a big food store called "Dean & Deluca" which was filled with many delicious pastries as fruits, food and huge pumpkins for Halloween.

Suddenly our tummies started growling and we decided to have an organic (!) burger at a cute restaurant called "Bare Burger". It was a big meal but it tasted amazing! I've never had such a good burger before. After all the good food we continued our walk through Greenwich Village and walked in to several small shops among them a famous small vintage shop called "A second chance". I tried to nice sweaters but wasn't completely satisfied with the qualities that they were made therefore I didn't buy any of them.

It didn't take long before we got out of the store and bumped in to the cutest little shop located on 30th Prince street called "Little Cupcake Bakeshop". This is where I had my very first New York cupcake! I loved the pretty pink coloured frosting and the red (!) cake/pastry. My dad was lucky to be able to enjoy a good pastry too and that is how we left Greenwich Village with big smiles on our faces :) It got dark very fast and therefore we decided to return to the hotel where the two of us slept like two big bears after a long day of enchanted impressions and delicious food.

Stockholm.

Picture: My first room

After a rather long journey I finally came home yesterday evening. I've had an amazing time in New York and I am so happy that this life long wish to visit this cool city could come true! The time difference it still bothering me though, in Stockholm it's 4:20 PM while in NY the time is only 9:20 AM (!).. Besides, I only managed to sleep two hours on the flight home. No wonder I woke up feeling completely exhausted this morning.

Anyway I still have a few things to do in order to finish unpacking my suitcase but I promise to continue writing about my fantastic days in the Big Apple. More collages/pictures will also be posted so stay tuned ;)

Living my New York Dream.

Hey everybody, sorry for the bad updates this week but as you probably can imagine my daily schedule is full of different kinds of activities from day to night. I literally almost fall asleep with clothes and make up on as soon as I land on my bed in the hotel room.

Still, I must admit that no matter how exhausted I am when I come home at night I'm living my New York Dream.. I simply could not be happier than I am right now This amazing city & its people have surprised me in so many ways during these last seven days. There are so many things to tell and fantastic pictures that I wish to share with all of you.

"Time truly flies while you're having fun..", I just realized that I only have four more days in the Big Apple. Therefore my focus is to try to enjoy as much as possible these few days and I promise I will make more collages and texts about this unforgettable journey when I come home.

Thank you for your understanding, dream with the angels ♥ Love Liv
