Chinas Terracotta Army in Stockholm.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures found here

It's Monday and a new week has begun! I've been busy studying and I also managed to hit the gym earlier today, if you ask me I would say it's the best way to start the day. In the afternoon I met up with C and together we went to see the famous and very much discussed exhibition "Chinas Terracotta Army" located at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities.

"It took 700,000 men almost 40 years to complete. Now the terracotta army is in Stockholm to tell the story of China’s birth.

Back where it all began – deep under the ground – soldiers and a large collection of never-before- exhibited objects from a total of five imperial tombs are on display in the caverns beneath the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities."

I absolutely recommend the exhibition, each and every statue are all significant pieces of this enormous Army. Not to mention the extraordinary tunnels located under ground previously used by the Swedish Navy up until the 1960's. It makes the perfect subterranean setting for the exhibition which has also allowed to create an unique atmosphere and environment for these statues in all kinds of different sizes.

One must not forget that these statues were originally created only for the purpose of the Chinese emperors tombs, in order to protect them in the after life and not get brought back up to day light to be seen from other living beings. For it is a historical treasure, one that can be admired by our people today and for many upcoming generations in the future.

Love Quote.

One of my favourite quotes,

"When I saw You, I fell in Love. And You smiled because You knew."
William Shakespeare

It's been such a long day and honestly I've been looking forward to a quiet evening and not be forced to go to town and hit the dance floor. Don't get me wrong though, I've had so much fun celebrating my birthday this week ;) Luckily I had a soft day at work too, apparently there were more people out shopping yesterday for today the store almost felt "empty".

Anyway, tomorrow awaits a new day & new week with new fun things to look forward to. I hope you have all had a great weekend and that you've been able to spend it with family/friends. Sweet dreams :)

Picture: Private pictures - Collage made by me

I'm sorry for my absence here on the blog but I've had a few very busy days which I've spent studying, working but most important above all celebrating! I turned 23 years old last Wednesday which I celebrated twice this week (!). Wednesday evening I spent with my colleagues from work and friends at Berns. It was a fun evening! Last night I celebrated it with my family and since it's my mother's birthday today we sung for both of us yesterday.

The beautiful cake was made by my father and two brothers - it was delicious! :) As for birthday presents I got these lovely earrings from kyssjohanna which I believe I wrote about before Christmas? I love them - the perfect party earrings ;) My parents gave me two tickets to go see La Bohéme at The Royal Opera later this spring! Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to it!

I want to thank my beloved family for all their love and support ♥ I love you all with all my heart. Thank you precious friends who have sent me texts and that has written to me through facebook during the day, you mean the world to me!

Memories.

I stay awake only to see the shooting stars fly across the sky. In the candlelight snowflakes dance swiftly within my snow globe, while a tear escapes from my eye. Childhood memories cradle me deep inside as flashbacks pass me by. A piece of pergament paper reminds me of a letter I must not forget to reply.

I close my eyes only to find myself singing with a low voice on an angel's lullaby. A sweet melody that my mother sung to me when I was a child and that made me sleep deep under the northern sky. Night after night I stay awake only to see the shooting stars fly across the sky. My heart is filled with memories that will last for an entire life time.

Living the American Dream.

As I mentioned previously I adore traditional homes of the American East coast and the one above is no exception.. Enjoy all the beautiful pictures below! All pictures from Skeppsholmen, for more info about this house click here

The heart of a home, fabulous kitchen

Cosy fireplace and I love the contrast with the white sofas and the chocolate brown details such as the cushions and plaids

Cute dining room where the "half wall" gives the room an "open space" towards the living room

Master bed room, the bed looks huge it must be a king-size ;) Although the first thing my eyes fell for in this picture is the beautiful window. I'm sure I would love the view too!

Good Monday.

I trust you have all slept well, are you ready to rock this new week? I sure am! :) After a good night's sleep I'm ready to begin with all tasks that needs to be done today. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a walk later this afternoon/alternative hit the gym, I guess we'll see. One can always need a bit of fresh air.

Coming up later, a few pictures of a beautiful home inspired by the classic American East Coast dream, also known as "New England style". Some of you might already know this but I'm a complete "sucker" for it :) More info about that later. Anyway I better get started now, hope you will have a Good Monday!

Wonderful Weekend.

Picture: Collage made by me (pic 1 & 2) Click to enlarge!

It's been a good weekend which I've spent both at work and with friends. The goodbye party/dinner for S on Friday was fun but turned to be very emotional by the end of the evening. Oh, you have no idea how much I'll miss you sunshine ♥ I wish you all the best and good luck, I'll come and visit you soon ;)

Saturday evening I met up with the girls, E & L for dinner and movie night at the cinema. We saw "Love and other drugs" starring Anne Hathaway & Jake Gyllenhaal. Last week I also went to see "The Tourist" and I must say that Angelina Jolie left me a bit disappointed meanwhile Johnny Depp was brilliant not to mention the spectacular Venice where the film was made.

It reminded me of how much I would love to go for a short trip, perhaps a weekend to another city/country. My dream is to visit Ireland/Scotland later this autumn and perhaps I'll be able to go somewhere during spring/summer too.. May you all have a great day depending on what time it is at your place!

Golden Globes 2011.

I am sorry for the bad updates recently but I've had yet another hectic week. From today on I will hopefully have more free time from both school and work since my practice is over. Anyway enough said about this.

I saw this amazing dress from Calvin Klein that the actress Emma Stone wore at this year's Golden Globe Award. I love the warm salmon colour and the minimalistic style. Not to mention how great the colour suits Emma's skin and hair colour. Beautiful!

Friday 14 January 2011

Finally Friday.

After what has felt like a long week I'm glad that it's finally Friday. I spent the late afternoon at the gym and since I had to wake up at 05:30 AM this morning my body and mind is quite finished now. I'll be working all weekend and so I need to reload my batteries with start tonight. I wish you all a Fun Friday!

I love this Spot.

Picture: Collage made by me (from the top left corner 1, 2, 3, 4)

I am so happy! Earlier today I won an auction online on this absolute perfect little jumpsuit from Topshop from the S/S 2010 collection. Unfortunately I was never able to find it in the stores - sold out.. After searching so many stores I finally gave up. Although this absolutely made my day! I am so looking forward to wear it as Swedish fashion oracle Sofi Fahrman does with a pair of comfortable white Keds on my feet later this spring/summer :) I love this spot!

Beautiful Braids.

Picture: Collage made by me, I found the majority of the pictures at We heart it

My parents clearly remember how I complained over not having enough long hair when I was a little girl. Truly, I was so upset and cried so many times over the disappointment that my hair never seemed to get longer.

A few years later I have had the opportunity to have both shorter and longer hair. The reason for why I wanted to have long hair is because of all the different kinds of hairdos one could make out of it. My favourite hairstyles often include some kind of braid as seen on the pictures above.

The small picture in the bottom right corner is me, taken during autumn 2009 when I had enough hair to do a classic headband made out of my own hair. Hopefully it will continue growing for I had to cut about 10 cm the last time, I believe it was for about three months ago. The long braid in the middle was seen on the Alexander Wang show for S/S 2010 and I'm aiming to have a similar hairdo later this summer. I absolutely love it and it's practical too ;)

Monday 10 January 2011

Monday Evening.

After such an intense work out at the gym earlier today no wonder I feel so exhausted now. I thought I'd reward myself by watching "Sense & Sensibility" (1995) featuring Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet & Hugh Grant which begins within only a few minutes on SVT1.

Apparently it's a long film since it ends at 12:15 PM, we'll see how long I'll be able to keep my eyes open. Tomorrow awaits yet another long day, I'm looking forward to babysit the two adorable little angels who lives in my neighbourhood. Enough said, time for some true romance á la Jane Austen Sweet dreams!

Legs in Focus.

Today I am officially back in business, in other words I had my first work out at the gym after the Holidays. It went surprisingly well and let's just say that later this spring/summer my legs will be in focus ;) Still, I believe one needs good genes and a lot of intense work out to even dream of walking on a pair of legs such as the ones in the picture above. But it is still good "thinspiration" if you ask me. I will get somewhere near it, just wait and see!

After 50 minutes of jogging (total distance 6 km) I still felt how the energy was pumping inside my veins and so I headed for the weight machines. In total I spent about 1,5 hours and it felt so good afterwards since I also managed to stretch out every big muscle group properly. My aim is to follow this programme three to four times per week. This type of exercises combined with a healthier diet I am hoping to both feel and see some results within a few weeks! Beach 2011, here I come :)

Monday Morning.

Mood: Nothing but smiles, I'm actually happy it's a new week!
Done: Enjoyed a delicious breakfast with hot tea and scrambled eggs
Plans: Get ready to hit the gym, study & continue with my paperwork
Looking at: Beautiful sunshine outside my bedroom window, lovely :)
Listening to: Amy Grant - Better than a Hallelujah
Reading: Nothing yet but I will read class literature later this afternoon
Drinking: A warm cup of tea, favourite tea from Lipton
Eating: Just finished a long breakfast, looking forward to a great day!
Best: Good start of the new week and looking forward to new challenges
Worst: All the piles of paperwork I still need to finish before school..
Weather: Cold and windy, still I'm happy there is a little bit of sunshine

Dress like a Princess.

Picture: Collage made by me (sources for picture one & two)

When I first saw the official pictures from Prince William and his Kate Middleton my eyes fell completely on the beautiful blue dress that she was wearing at the press conference. After some research online I have found out that it is signed by a brand called "Issa", a popular brand in London among celebrities such as Kate Middleton.

Unfortunately this dress was sold out in one day (!) in the entire UK (that is after the big announcement). No wonder, I mean who would not like to dress like the future Princess? I know I would! For it has a perfect cut and the correct "Royal blue" shade while it also is a classic dress. In my opinion this is the very perfect dress to all occasions for both work & party! Excellent choice Miss Middleton! :)

Not one heartbeat will I forget.

Some say time is the only cure to heal a broken heart. What if time suddenly stood still, the soul was caught up in the eye of a storm deep within while the world falls apart? Pictures and letters that were supposed to be forgotten enlightens us like heavy autumn rain. No, certain memories will always remain.

Waking up in the middle of the night, the result of when two dreams collide. Only to find trembling tears streaming down from the eyes and an empty space next to your side. Even the bravest of hearts fall down sometimes. All you can do is to rise up once again and find the strength written in the stars, the one phenomenon that always shines.

Certain memories I will never regret. Not one heartbeat will I forget.

British Royal Engagement.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures taken by famous photographer Mario Testino (source styleite)

Two of Prince William and Kate Middleton's official engagement photos have been released. The photos--one casual and one formal--were taken by Mario Testino, who I always think brings out the best in his celebrity subjects. I believe he also happened to be one of Princess Diana's favourite photographers where she let him take other photos of her boys when they were at a younger age.

The casual photo was taken in the Cornwall Room at St. James' Palace. The top left photograph (also known to be the formal portrait) was taken in the Council Chamber that is linked to Clarence House. Truly both of them are glowing and I cannot find enough words to describe how happy I am for the young couple that truly deserve nothing else but happiness together.

Apparently the wedding date is already set (source: Mirror) on the 29th of April this year the beautiful Kate Midleton will become Her Royal Highness Katherine of Wales and the wife of Prince William of Wales. Considering last years big Royal Swedish wedding this will also be celebrated. In all England and world wide of course, I'm looking forward to it! I'm dreaming of being there..

New Year's Resolutions.

★ Give people more than they expect and most importantly do so because you enjoy it
★ Don't believe in all you hear and do not spend all the money you earn
★ Only use the words "I love you" when you feel the true emotion and know the meaning
★ Look the person in the eyes when you apologize to someone
★ Believe in love at first sight
★ Love deep and passionate. One might get hurt but it's the only way to experience life
★ Never insult people in your surrounding
★ Speak slowly but think fast
★ If someone would ask you a question which you do not want to answer, smile and ask them "why they want to know that?"
★ Do not let a small mistake ruin a great friendship
★ Smile every time you answer the phone, for the person calling you will hear you're smiling
★ Try to spend some time on your own to reflect and to learn more about yourself
★ Remember that sometimes silence is the best answer
★ Share your knowledge with others for knowledge is not private
★ Once every year try to explore a new city/place where you have never been before
★ Learn all the rules and break some of them..

Like a Rose.

Picture: We heart it

Apparently Rihanna will pay Stockholm, Sweden a visit on the 1st of November this year, where she will be holding a big concert in th Globe Arenas Annexet. I would love to go and listen to her sing live! I better look for good tickets now!

Weekend Sofar.

Despite of the dull and boring weather (the sky is nothing but a misty grey today) I am hoping for a long winter walk later in the afternoon. Last night my good friend C and I attended a beautiful winter wedding in the south western parts of Stockholm. I love weddings for the light and happy atmospheres but also to see two families become one. We danced and ate plenty of good food.

Unfortunately I have a big pile of paperwork that I must dig into today, I just want to get it over with. Sadly I only have today and Monday before I'll be heading back to classes. Therefore one must take the opportunity and enjoy every minute of this luxurious free time ;) My body and mind are still on Holidays, where I will not begin my new work out schedule until Monday. I am looking forward to it though!

Enough said for now, I believe it is time for a shower. Pray I finish with the big piles today. I guess we shall see ;) May you all have a wonderful weekend!

A Woman Knows.

I think, at some point every female dreams of finding that special someone. A gentleman, warm, reassuring and whenever you are together you feel as if you were one. A man who can bring out his romantic sides as his good sense of humour. He who would learn your favourite ice-cream flavour.

Am I dreaming for wanting a man with a honest heart? Someone with intelligence and who is cultivated when it comes to manners, language, customs, values not to mention a bit of art? A man of who one can rely upon and count on at all times, however impossibly hard or difficult the situation may be. A true friend who will always believe and have faith in me.

A special someone who knows how to treat a lady and who show respect towards elders and other people. A man worthy enough to be my equal. A gentleman who can see beyond your flaws and see nothing but the goodness in thy heart. Someone who it would be difficult to leave, yet to be apart.

Someone who just knows when it's time. When forever really means forever. A man who would surprise me and take me away today, tomorrow or for many years to come. Where are You? ♥

Swedish Lucia Buns.

Picture: Private - My brother took these photos while I was busy baking

I had the best sushi and in the best of company with my good friend L today. After a walk in and out from a few stores I went home to see my brother all worked up because he wanted to bake with me. With that said I put on my mother's lingonberry apron and we decided to make delicious typical Swedish Lucia buns made out of saffron.

They turned out very pretty don't you think? My brother and I felt very proud in a modest way. The entire afternoon flew by and now I just finished watching another mini series about Jane Austen's "Emma" on the TV. Perfect way to round off such a great day. Work awaits tomorrow so I better try and get some sleep. Sweet dreams.

White Wednesday.

Lovable Letters.

Picture: My inkwell to the left - Collage made by me

I must not forget to tell you more about my second package that arrived yesterday! Within the box lay this beautiful brass inkwell embellished in a golden tint, which I won at an auction online before Christmas. As I wrote before the Holidays my aim is to redecorate my little dormitory and by adding personal details I hope to create a more "vivid atmosphere".

This little inkwell is placed on my present desk and I am sure it will be used quite frequently as soon as its other half arrives, that is a magical snow white feather pen that I ordered through the British online web shop called Penheaven. I am truthfully looking forward to have my own set of ink, pergament paper and a personalised seal to use on red melted wax on the back of my envelopes. More info will come later! Anyway I better try to get some rest. Sweet dreams.

Terrific Tuesday.

I had such a wonderful day in town earlier today, I spent the morning at the hairdresser where lovely Veronica made me look fabulous (thank you!) and the afternoon window shopping (my birthday is coming up soon..) :) I'm still enjoying this last free week from school and therefore tomorrow I'm meeting up my good friend L for a lunch in town before she sets of to NY later this Saturday.

Anyway tonight I'll sit down on the couch and enjoy the second and last episode of the British mini-series "Cranford". I saw the first episode last week and was completely hooked! I better prepare a fruit salad before it starts. Have a great day/night depending on what time it is at your place ;)

Man's Best Friend.

I have always loved animals ever since I was a little girl. Dogs in particular have been my number one favourite for as long as I can remember. My family once had a German Shepherd when we lived abroad unfortunately we could not bring it to Sweden and therefore had to leave it with another family.

Only a few years later after coming back we bought a Cavalier King Charles (as seen on the picture above) which we named Falcon. I cannot describe the love I had for this beautiful little angel. Sadly we (my siblings and I) were so young children and could not help our parents the way we should have done if only we had been older.

A little puppy was so very much welcomed but my parents realized that we would not have time to truly take good care of him. Luckily we found an old widow who took good care of him and gave him a home where he would have all the attention and love that he truly deserved.

It takes a lot of time and energy to have a dog but I have come to realize now that it is truly worth it. For they are considered to be man's best friend and I truly believe that they are. Therefore I have already made up my mind. One day when I am older and hopefully have a family of my own I will make sure that we buy a Cavalier King Charles, the most friendly and loving dog (according to me) Take a look at the wonderful video which tells you more about the dog.

How I long to have one of my own..

New Year. New Goals.

I was very happy on the day I joined one of the leading gyms in Sweden known as SATS. It was some time during autumn of 2010 and since then I've had several visits, still not as many as I wished from the beginning.. Therefore since a new year has begun I've made new goals in many different areas whereas strengthen my heart and body is one of the top ten on my list. Preferably I'd loose a few kilos as well, we'll see how it all turns out.

As always one enters the new year will several thoughts and ideas. The difficulty lies in planning them and living up to them. This time I will make it, I have a pretty strong feeling I will :) Since my new classes don't start until next Tuesday I have one more week to set up a schedule for both work, studies, exercise and other fun activities! This time I'm serious about my goals, 2011 here I come!

Carried Away.

Picture: Private - Collage made by me (Click to enlarge!)

After spending the morning babysitting two little angels in my neighbourhood I was all smiles when I came home. In our mailbox waited two other fantastic news, two packages that had arrived for me at our local post office. My father gave me a lift and when we got back I opened up a white envelope to find this cute little jewel box inside. Within lay this beautiful "name necklace" with my name engraved in golden letters. Sofia and not Liv since the second name would have been too short. I absolutely love it!

Many of you might have seen a similar one on Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) from the TV-show "Sex And The City". From the first moment I saw her wearing it I knew that this was the perfect personal necklace to wear at all occasions. For several years I've longed for it and today it finally arrived after ordering it during Christmas. It's not a late Christmas present but an early Birthday gift from me to myself ;) The smaller necklace is my medallion which was given to me during my baptism. These two pretty pieces mean a lot to me

Sunday 2 January 2011

Soft Sunday.

Despite the fact that I spent five hours at work earlier today I'm not tired? It feels a bit strange because normally I want to pass out as soon as I come home ;) But not today, my mother and I have therefore decided to watch one of her films that she got for Christmas - "Finding Neverland" featuring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Anyway I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Sweet dreams.

Collage New Year's Eve 2010/2011.

Picture: Private - taken by me with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

Above are a few pictures that were taken yesterday. We had a wonderful evening together and enjoyed a delicious New Year's Eve dinner with lobster, asparagus and the best part was obviously the dessert :) Chocolate mousse and White chocolate flavoured panna cotta both topped with fresh blueberries and raspberries. I wonder if there are some leftovers of it for today..

Last List of 2010.

1. Did you do something this year that you haven't done before? I have focused more on finding "myself" and most important above all love myself and those true family members and friends that I have around me. Life is a gift that one should not throw away but instead try to live each day and not only during special occasions/celebrations.
2. Did you fulfil any of your New Year's Resolutions? I made several academic resolutions and I feel proud to admit that I'm nearly there..! 2011 will be another great year where I will finally begin my academic classes at University later this upcoming autumn. I'm sure I will have so much fun!
3. Did any friend of yours have a baby this year? Despite that she is not friend I still admire a certain person very much for all that she conveys and inspire other people through her blog. Engla is an amazing young woman, wonderful mother and an enterprising business woman. She is blessed to have a young daughter of 3 years old and was lucky to give birth to two healthy twin boys 2010-10-28
4. Did somebody that you held near die this year? No.
5. Did you travel abroad this year? If yes, to what countries/cities? New York, USA (Oct-Nov)
6. Pick a date from this year that you shall always remember. I would rather choose the happiest week of the year which was spent in NY - 24/10 - 4/11
7. What was your greatest success 2009? Like last year, I managed to change jobs despite the difficult times where many people still have been unemployed I feel lucky that I managed to get my job at Zara in June this year. Therefore I believe that this was one of my greatest successes of the year. Where I have also done very well at school and only received A's in all the courses that I have read.
8. What was your greatest mistake 2009? Surely I have made many but the importance lies in learning from them for as the process of it makes your heart and character grow.
9. Have you been ill or hurt yourself during the year? Besides a few minor bruises I have managed to avoid getting ill. I can't remember having any fever at all during the year, this I feel very grateful for.
10. What can be seen as to be your best bargain this year? Clearly it must be my golden oak coloured Mulberry Bayswater and my weekend bag from Luis Vuitton. I love them both and know that they will be two very "handy" companions on many upcoming trips in the future.
11. Do you have any special memory from 2009 that made you feel really happy? One of the happiest moments took place at Top of the Rock - Rockefeller Center. To be able to see the entire Manhattan left me speechless. Truly it was one of the happiest moments of this year.

21. How did you celebrate your birthday during 2009? I turned 22 on a Tuesday this year which meant a calm evening with my beloved ones and a smaller party later that week.
22. How would you describe your style during the year? I feel like I have found a style that suits my personality and body. I have come to realize that I appreciate a classic style rather than the "trendy". One has also realized the importance of having certain "base garments" made out of a better quality than rather having ten t-shirts of a poor cotton mix. It's good for the personal economy and is a better way of treating nature.
23. What made you feel good during the year? Spending time with family/friends
24. Hottest male/female celebrity during 2009? Male: JJ Field & Female: Gwyneth Paltrow
