Living my New York Dream.

Hey everybody, sorry for the bad updates this week but as you probably can imagine my daily schedule is full of different kinds of activities from day to night. I literally almost fall asleep with clothes and make up on as soon as I land on my bed in the hotel room.

Still, I must admit that no matter how exhausted I am when I come home at night I'm living my New York Dream.. I simply could not be happier than I am right now This amazing city & its people have surprised me in so many ways during these last seven days. There are so many things to tell and fantastic pictures that I wish to share with all of you.

"Time truly flies while you're having fun..", I just realized that I only have four more days in the Big Apple. Therefore my focus is to try to enjoy as much as possible these few days and I promise I will make more collages and texts about this unforgettable journey when I come home.

Thank you for your understanding, dream with the angels ♥ Love Liv

NY pictures - part one.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures taken with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

So far I've taken about 140 pictures..! I decided to make several smaller collages than a big one. These pictures were taken during our first day where we spent the morning in the beautiful Central Park. Enjoy!

NY - Day One.

After our long journey on Sunday we finally arrived to JFK airport around 11 PM Sunday night. I tortured myself on the plane because I didn't sleep anything - I ended up watching three films instead. I thought I'd be able to sleep better and adjust the time zone in my body much faster but I ended up sleeping around five to six hours.

My dad and I decided to take it easy on our first day - due to expected yet lag.. Therefore we ended up exploring the small neighbourhood we're staying at around "Long Island City". We decided to live outside Manhattan due to the extremely high prices and also because of the fact that many hotels were sold out. Therefore we have a 5-10 min travel time when we want to visit the more central parts of the big city.

After a steady breakfast our new adventures began by taking a long stroll around the breathtaking Central Park. Most of the leaves are still green but there are traces of golden yellow and ruby red leaves as well. We passed the Central Park Zoo, the famous Central Park Boathouse and the well know Wollman rink (where people actually were able to go ice skating in October!).

One thing is for certain; there are new impressions to encounter behind every single block in this town. The pulse is very high were yellow cabs literally fly next to you while walking on the side walk. For some people a bit stressful perhaps but I'm absolutely lovin' it! We also ended up visiting some shops - read many shops!

Luckily my dad managed to find a few things which I believe suited him very well. I was close in buying a few things but have decided to wait a few days to see & compare the different prices for they do vary a lot from store to store. I've taken so many pictures today but I don't think I'll have the time to post them here tonight, perhaps I'll do it tomorrow.

I must say that I completely fell in love with the New York Public Library. My dad and I spent almost one hour inside or was it two? Anyway I fully understand the reasons for why Carrie in SATC decided to "try" to get marry in this building. There is so much history to find within those walls, new & old treasures to look through and different exhibitions to explore.

After a rather long day of nothing but walking we decided to turn back to the hotel to rest & fresh 'n' up before heading out for dinner. At this very moment my dad is sleeping while I'm still up. It's been an awesome day and really good sofar! I find it hard to believe that there are so many more places left to see! We've only seen a little bit of the big Apple and more is yet to come! Sweet dreams to you all back home, talk to you soon.

Finished packing.

Picture: Taken by me with my iPhone - My favourite bags! (I'm ready for new adventures in the Big Apple!)

After spending almost the entire day trying to figure out what to bring to NY I managed to pack those things that I know I'll use. One very common mistake is to bring too many clothes that end up hanging in the hotel closet. Hopefully that won't happen this time ;)

This might sound a bit weird to some of you and I totally get it if you don't understand this but I'm actually feeling a bit nervous about tomorrow.. After all I've been looking forward to this trip for so long and it still feels unreal that I'll be sitting on a plane towards the states tomorrow.

Anyway a good night's sleep will probably calm my nerves. I hope you all had a wonderful day today! Dream with the angels ♥

Rise & Shine.

Slept like a princess last night and woke up with a great smile today. I've had this feeling of gratitude these last weeks since things are finally getting better & since embellished results have brightened my days!

Remember the big essay I wrote about a few days ago? Well I got an A on the essay, I am so happy! Besides that I've also received all A's on the last ten courses I've done now. I guess hard work really does pay off ;)

I told my parents about it yesterday and my dad said that this upcoming NY trip was a perfect present and a good way to celebrate my success! I just wanted to thank my parents and my beloved brothers for all their support ♥ Thank you for always believing in me, I love you!

Sorry but I have to continue with my long "to-do" list.. I haven't even started packing yet! Gah.. May you all have a sunny Saturday! I'll write more later!

Winter Wonderland.

Picture: Taken by me with my iPhone (this is what's happening outside my bedroom window right this second..)

Guess if I was surprised waking up this morning to find all of these white fluffy things (also known as snowflakes) falling down from the sky! I've heard it on the weather cast this week that we ought to expect some snow but I simply couldn't believe it. It seems as if they were right this time.

Hopefully the snow might last a day or two if the temperature won't increase. Anyway time for breakfast - I'm starving! What a terrific way to start off this white Friday, I wish you all a great day!

P.S. I'm so happy about my snowflakes falling down on my blog as well ;) Fancy that, it matches with the picture taken today! Yay! D.S.

This is Me missing You. Part IIII.

There are times when I close my eyes and wish that he knew how much I miss him. Sometimes I catch myself daydreaming about him where all the perfect memories turn into an emotional film.

I miss the way he always makes me laugh and feel good deep inside. I will never forget about the last day I saw his friendly face and how much my soul cried. I was left with no place to hide.

There are times when I sing to him through my heart's prayers, mostly before I say good night. May his guardian angels watch over him and keep his body & soul healthy and strong not to mention his good sight.

Many cherished moments I've been lucky to share with him. Whenever he was around I could always let my hair down and say all those crazy things for he would never make me feel dim.

There are times when I close my eyes and wish that he knew how much I miss him. Lucky is the girl who his precious heart one day shall win.

On my Christmas List.

Picture: Childhood

"World Childhood Foundation’s work is aimed at the most marginalized children, the ones most often ignored and forgotten. Childhood focuses especially on girls and the main target groups are street children, children living in institutions, young mothers and sexually abused children.

Childhood was founded in 1999 by Her Majesty Queen Silvia.

– I was Patron of the first World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children held in Stockholm and hosted by the Swedish government. My concern for children who are abused and who are suffering and in difficulty was deepened when, in connection with that Congress, I realized the magnitude of the problems involved. I then decided to become personally involved, said the Queen when Childhood was founded.

13 family foundations, private persons and companies, the so called co-founders, contributed to the Foundation’s initial capital. Hitherto the return of this capital has covered the administrative costs in Sweden, meaning that all donations received are fully used for the projects supported by Childhood. In addition to the co-founders Childhood is supported by a group of Major Partners such as the swedish companies Vattenfall, Volvo and ICA.

Today there are independent Childhood Foundations also in Brazil, Germany and the United States. The cooperation between the different Foundations is important and for instance all projects must be approved by the Swedish Board of Directors.

Childhood does not have any field personnel of its own but cooperates with local organizations working with children at risk. Childhood is presently supporting around 100 projects located in Brazil, China, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine and the United States."

I'd love to support the organization by wearing this beautiful bracelet! I'm glad it would be for a good cause too, so dear Santa if you're reading this post right now.. It's on my Christmas list ;)

Masterpiece signed Mulberry.

Picture: Collage made by me (Kate Moss to the left, perfect wardrobe to the right, my new darling in the middle)

Do you remember the post I wrote last week about how I was waiting for a certain package? It finally arrived today and it contained the beautiful Mulberry bag called Bayswater. For years I've been dreaming of having this masterpiece in my growing (!) collection of classic handbags.

About a year ago I also wrote another post where the discussion circulated about the choice of colour, either basic black or honey coloured oak? As seen in the collage above the fashion icon number one, designer & model Kate Moss owns a black one while I decided to go with the oak coloured since it goes better with my wardrobe. Besides, it would be a nice contrast to all the black coats.

The happiness is hard to describe, I can't seem to find enough words. Truly, it feels like a dream come true. I've worked hard to earn this reward and I honestly think I deserve it for putting up with two hectic schedules at school + work. My beloved DKNY bag is literally falling apart and I can't wait to initiate this new love of mine as I'll be heading towards New York this weekend!

Mouthwatering Meal.

I must admit I'm still working on my cooking skills, meanwhile I feel lucky to have two brothers who are excellent chefs and sometimes I ask myself whether if they were not literally born in the kitchen? Anyway E & I made this amazing dish today which consisted of a few chicken fillets, spicy yellow curry, cream, some onion and last but not least sweet crispy apple wedges.

Along with some warm rice & salad it tasted marvellous! Truly, all the flavours cooking together and the bright colours made it both look and taste just like a mouthwatering meal should do ;) E is great when it comes to improvising, I'd never dare that.. Perhaps not now but someday I hope I'll feel more confident of doing so.

Besides, not only did it taste heavenly it can also be seen as a rather healthy dish. If one might be trying to loose some weight then my advice would be to skip the rice and instead of using cream one can always use water or use a cream with low fat. I'll see if I can write down the recipe and post it here if someone is interested in trying it!

For You.

The Letter.

Orange flames burned across the sky while the wind whispered autumn secrets in my ear, it all happened on yesterday's chilly walk home. With one eye on the clock and one eye at my jacket's pocket I checked for new messages on my phone only to discover to my great disappointment that there were none.

The sound of leaves blowing in the small and familiar street caught my attention, as it added a peaceful soundtrack to the colourful scenery of ruby red maple leaves and golden honey coloured oak trees. When I came home there was still some hope of where to look - the shiny silver mailbox - my nerves took over as I softened in my knees.

Suddenly there it was, a faded piece of pergament folded into a neat letter. I looked up to see the sun smiling at me as it slowly faded away in the horizon, a sudden feeling of serenity spread within my veins and made me feel a lot better.

The elegant handwriting could not be mistaken, it had been months and almost a year since the last time I had heard from him. For that I had dreamt about him day and night for several years as my heart wished to see him, no matter the means - with one exception, I would prefer not to swim.

- To be continued.. -

Colonial Collage.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures from Bloominghome & Par Courrier

Above are a few pictures that I came across this morning while surfing around for inspiration on the Internet. Fantastic colonial style pieces that I'd love to have in my home.

For some reason I woke up this morning having so many new ideas of how to decorate my room. When I come home from NY I will start planning. Time to get ready for work. Have a great day everyone!

Sunday Morning.

Rise & shine people! :) I slept like the bear does during the winter months. It felt so good and I guess my body really needed it. Anyway I've just finished a long breakfast while listening to the great soundtrack of the film "P.S I love you", which I've planned to see tonight when I'm home from work.

Other than that I've got a special feeling today is going to be a great day! There are so many things I still need to prepare for the big trip to NY next Sunday too. I still can't believe it. I'll be in New York by this time next Sunday, amazing! I wish you all a sunny Sunday!

Saturday 16 October 2010

The Switch.

Last night I had dinner with the girls at Taco Bar which serve the best tacos in Stockholm (!) and afterwards we went to see "The Switch" featuring Jennifer Aniston. Click to see the trailer above!

It was the perfect end to a long day and so I shall do the same today. I honestly feel completely worn out so I might as well enjoy a few soft tunes before falling asleep. Sweet dreams!

Dream with the Angels.

Another long day is about to end, looking forward to a good nights sleep! I'm so happy it's Friday tomorrow! I wish you all a great day/evening depending on what time it is at your place right now ;) Dream with the Angels. Love Liv

It's all about the Details.

Picture: Collage made by me (pictures from Kyssjohanna)

I always wear jewellery, mostly simple white pearls, my small medallion from my baptism, my favourite bracelet by Marc Jacobs and a watch. The necklace above is adorable and is more than welcome to join my other necklaces in my jewel case. Not to mention the lovely golden feather ring by the designer Erica Weiner. I love them both! They will probably end up on my Christmas list.. ;)

Wednesday 13 October 2010

Workaholic.

Somehow time always manage to slip through my fingers, like the sand in a hourglass. I don't know how but my calendar always seems to become so full. Daily projects such as classes, study time, work sometimes in the afternoon which leads to late dinners where I don't come home until 9 PM. I don't even want to mention the weekends for they are the worst.

They mostly consist of work during the entire day and if I'm lucky to have some energy left I might either go out with friends or stay in and spend some quality time with my family. It's awful. I realized it today when my youngest brother asked me what my plans are for the weekend and I answered him work. So sad.

So much precious time is literally flying by and it felt like I just wake up from a long and intensive sleep when I heard my brother say, "I feel so sorry for you, it's not healthy you know?". He always speaks his mind and he can be brutally honest about almost everything but for that I love him, no matter how heartbreaking his comment might be I know he wants what's best for me by looking after me ♥

Suddenly it's clear to me now, I've become a workaholic. Maybe it's time to take a break from a few things and start to think about what I think is important and most important above all start listening to my body that literally aches almost every now and then during the day and not in a good way. My health comes first. Unfortunately I've been ignoring it for too long but now it's time to make a change!

Dreams do come true part III.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures from My Many Bags

Today I received some very exciting news! As seen on the pictures above I'm waiting on a similar aubergine purple coloured package to arrive with the mail. I don't know the exact date yet but I assume it will be here before I'll be leaving for New York. Fingers crossed!

I know I've mentioned it before and I guess some of you might already know what could be hiding within this purple velvet bag.. Come on and take a guess! ;)

Marvelous Morning.

Mood: Even though my cold is still bugging me I woke up feeling positive!
Done: Breakfast, checked my e-mails, shower up next
Plans: Back to school, new class starting today! Study in the afternoon
Looking at: Beautiful sunshine outside my bedroom window
Listening to: The wonderful soundtrack from the movie P.S. I love you
Reading:
Nothing yet but I'll grab a metro on the subway
Drinking:
Cool orange juice & tea
Eating: I just finished a long breakfast, lunch up later (chicken my favourite!)
Worst: My cold, if I'd been feeling healthier I'd gone to the gym today :(
Weather: Cool & sunshine, looks like it's going to be a beautiful day!

Speechless.

Picture: We heart it

Within less than 14 days I will be on a plane heading towards the big city of my dreams, NY. I still haven't been able to fully take in the idea of my dad and I going there together, for me it still feels like I'm daydreaming like it's too good to be true. The overwhelming fact that it is true makes me speechless.

I must not forget to mention that the dollar is still low which means we will probably be able to get value for our money (read more shopping!). Still there is more planning to do. Unbelievable, fourteen days ♥ Anyway I need to get some sleep. Looking forward a new week with start tomorrow!

Sleep tight beloved ones, dream with the angels.

10-10-10

Superstitious as I am of course something good had to occur today on this magical date. Unfortunately nothing too exciting happened, instead I did miss my train home from work with 1 minute. But I must not complain since I did in fact have a good day at work with my fantastic colleagues and because today also happens to be my cousin M's birthday, feliz cumpleaños cariño! ♥

I'm still thinking about today's unusual date and since I'm particularly fond with even numbers 10-10-10 makes it even more perfect ;) If certain things in my life were a bit different I would for example have loved to get engaged/married on today's date or perhaps given birth to a beautiful and healthy little boy/girl ♥ Such powerful events deserve to occur on a unique date, that is if one would ask for my opinion. What do you think?

Dream with the angels

Happy it's Friday.

My bin is already full of tissues (!) unbelievable, I somehow managed to stay healthy during the first three weeks at my practice with the children at school but during this last week something caught me.

I can't stop coughing and my nose can't seem to switch colour other than different shades of tomato red. But no matter how sick I get I must not forget that today is my favourite day of the week, I'm so happy it's Friday!

Unfortunately I had to stay up far too late yesterday working on my essay which was due today therefore I've literally felt like a zombie today. Anyway I'll be heading to bed early and hopefully I'll be able to rest more tonight because I need it since I'm working the full weekend.

Enough said, I should go and make myself a nice cup of tea or anything warm for my sore throat. I wish you all a great evening!

Relaxing Rain.

Picture: We heart it
It's been raining most of the afternoon. Lovely and I honestly enjoyed every relaxing rain drop that landed on my forehead on my way home. I simply cannot help but to love this relaxing rain. Truly, I believe it's good for the heart & soul.

Wednesday 6 October 2010

Time to say Goodbye.

Tomorrow is my last day at the school where I have spent these last four weeks doing a practice for one of the courses I'm studying at the moment. My heart is filled with sadness because of the troubled little faces I was forced to see today and will see tomorrow for leaving them in order to go back to school.

Truly it has gone so fast. I remember thinking just yesterday about a famous quote, "time flies while you're having fun" - it could not be more true. They accepted me with warm and open arms and opened up their hearts very fast. To be appreciated and loved by a child is very hard to describe, in fact there are not enough words for it. It cannot be described, one must experience it in order to understand.

The teachers and staff at the school have been so kind and helpful as well. Talking about an amazing team, I can only hope that I shall be a part of a similar team in the future. I've also had two amazing supervisors who have taught me so much not only about the guidelines they have in their school but also about the important role they have in the children's daily round.

They do not only plan activities for today but also for tomorrow. The children's future and the way their lives may take different directions are in the teacher's hands. I want to be a part of it, this fantastic team that make sure that the youth get the very best preparation for their future challenges. By giving them love and support they will grow as individuals and learn how to help other fellow beings.

It feels as if I've finally found my calling after several years of studying and searching. I've made my decision. Teacher's profession is up next!

Forever a Legend.

Picture: We heart it

This Saturday on the 9th of October the famous musician John Lennon would have turned 70 years old. The former member of "The Beatles" will surely be celebrated in many countries around the world.

The quote as seen on the picture above are one of my favourites. May John Lennon Rest In Peace. Forever a great legend. Enjoy this wonderful melody.

Tuesday 5 October 2010

Black, White & Gold Details.

Picture: Unknown

I love the cool details in the room as seen in the photography above. The country-like white wooden floor, the classic black & white frames on the wall, the perfect pile of magazines on the floor, the black elegant sofa that makes the picture unique not to mention the crystals hanging down from the roof - that sets the angelic Gloria of the room. It's genius and absolutely perfect.

She's a Survivor.

I was so happy to see that my mother is finally recovering after a few scary days with extremely high fever. After all, I know deep within that she's a survivor ♥ Thanks to her I carry a persistent gene, not only because both of us are born under the same sign of the Aquarius but also for sharing the same blood that creates a very unique and unbreakable bond between us.

You are in my prayers mummy, focus on regaining your strength and you will be home soon. B, dad, E & I miss you! May the angels watch over you now that I can't be by your side. Te amo mami

Sunday 3 October 2010

One place & One style.

Pictures: 1 & 2 - We heart it

It's been another hectic weekend involving illness, dinner party/social time & work. My poor mother is at the hospital due to lung inflammation. I feel so bad over the fact that I haven't been able to go and visit her since I've been working most of the weekend and during the hours patients are allowed to have visitors. I'm determined to visit her tomorrow though, to really make sure she is okay, I miss you, get well soon. I love you

Yesterday my best friend L and her friend R had organized a small dinner party at her parent's house. Three delicious dishes were served including, appetizer, fillet of beef and for desert one of the best blueberry pies I've ever had. Most of my friends headed to town to join another party but I was pretty dead in my body after an intense day at work. Besides I had to work today too.

Enough said about the weekend. Above are two pictures that illustrates one of my favourite places, a historical library & the classic preppy style. Whenever I visit a library in town I always feel like I get lost in there for hours. The peace and inspiring atmosphere is amazing if you ask me.

One could probably say that my wardrobe is mostly influenced by the so called preppy style. Still I just realized that I don't own a classic club blazer, yet? I would say that it's the signature garment of this style, perhaps I could find one in a little vintage shop in NY? ;) *wishful thinking*

Anyway I should try and get some sleep, I've got a long day tomorrow as well. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Tomorrow awaits a new day & a new week. Sweet dreams to you all.

Friday 1 October 2010

Words of Wisdom.

Welcome 1st of October!

It's been such a long day and tomorrow awaits yet another one. Besides, I really don't have that much to say. Therefore I start this new month with a new tradition, to enter a new month with a favourite quote. With this said I shall now go to bed. Dream with the angels

"Laughter is timeless,
Imagination has no age,
Dreams are forever."
