Amazing Autumn.

Picture: Collage made by me, click to enlarge! (photographs from DeviantArt & We heart it)

August is going towards its end and only within two days September will begin, meaning more autumn-like-weather and activities which I've been looking forward to! I always tell my family & friends every year how much I long for this colourful season. I absolutely love it, that's for sure.

I've learnt that for every year that goes by one does learn how to appreciate the little things in life. Most of us live hectic lives with busy schedules at work and therefore too little time is spent on activities that are good for your heart & soul. When was the last time you took three deep and focused breaths? One must not forget to press pause sometimes and to inhale this moment.

For me this season is all about regaining new energy which I receive by simply taking a walk in the woods, enjoying nature's golden tree crowns and other beautiful phenomenons that only appear during these few months every year. These things are a few things that signify true quality in life that one must not forget to treasure.

I long for all the long walks with a special someone to hold my hand, sipping hot tea/chocolate in front of an open fire place and those cool yet sunny days when a leather jacket and a light cashmere scarf is all you need to stay warm. This I promise you, it will be an Amazing Autumn..

Finally Friday.

I'm so happy its Friday and the fact that I have a day off today! Still I'll be working all weekend and considering yesterday's pay day we'll probably have lots of people at the store. It will be fun anyway. Today's plan is to study in the morning, have lunch with M in town and the rest is still unknown.. ;)

I just looked outside and its all grey today, looks like it's going to rain? Although the weather cast did not say so.. It's this kind of weather that makes me want to stay indoors, all covered up underneath a blanket in front of our open fire. It could be an idea for tonight? Anyway time to get started but first a shower. Later!

Colourful & Creative.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures from Smythson: Luxury Leather Goods (Click to enlarge!)

I absolutely love these colourful notebooks with so many fun & inspiring titles from British Smythson. My favourite one is the pink one in the collage with the words saying "Make it Happen", the perfect everyday notebook that I'd have in my handbag and that one would use to write down all the crazy and fun ideas that tend to pop up inside my head (!).

A perfect gift to a friend or family member who already might have "everything"?! It's colourful, creative not to mention a little bit personal ;) I know this item will also be on my wishlist later this year..

I realized that the titles may be hard for you to read so I figured it's better if I type down the different titles of the notebooks above, so here we go!

From the left top corner, black notebook: "Top Secret", dark blue notebook: "Where there's a will there's a Way", orange notebook: "Keep Calm & Carry On", light green notebook: "Don't worry be Happy", pink notebook: "Make it Happen", light blue notebook: "Follow Your Dreams".

Macbook or PC?

Ever since I was introduced to the Apple/Mac World I've had the thought that one day I might switch from PC to Mac. It all begun with my first black iPod nano which I absolutely loved and have been using a lot. Next purchase was the iPhone 3 and now iPhone 4, in other words it feels as if I've gotten quite used to these products and it's technical family.

I've had two laptops the last eight years, both of them PC's and from Sony Vaio. Both of them have been great computers all though I've been introduced to new and more advanced picture editing programmes. From what I've heard Apple is a lot better to use when it comes to Photoshop etc.

Considering I'm starting Uni. also next year I'd like to have a fresh start with a new & modern technical equipment. Besides the Sony Vaio I have today weights 1,5 kg (!) which is a lot when you have to carry it with you. I'd like to find a lighter and faster alternative which is why my eyes fell on this little baby, the Macbook air. Although I've heard that its big brother the Macbook pro is a lot better for other more advanced programmes, essay writing etc.

I think I'll have to take a closer look and compare them with other PC's before I take any decision. If any of you are familiar with both operative systems what would you say is the biggest difference between these them? I would very much appreciate any tips & advice!

23.

Picture: Private - Taken by me with my iPhone

I had a great time yesterday with two of my best friends E & L, celebrating E who turns 23 years old today! Happy Birthday sweetheart!! As you can see on the picture we ate lots of delicious red crayfish from the southern parts of Sweden. For those of you who don't know it's a Swedish tradition to eat this type of food around August every year, I sure love it!

We talked and laughed for hours, just the way it should be! I love you girls and honestly I don't know what I'd do without you ♥ May we stay in contact now that L will be moving first to Gothenburg and then for Australia (!) and I'll be heading towards Örebro in January, I promise you there are many good years to come!

Today's Tip.

Picture: Collage made by me, pictures from Michael Kors & Zara

The classy "sling back" had its come back this summer and one could see many different models on the catwalks and in the stores. The right shoe in the collage above made by the American designer Michael Kors is just one example. He also made a smart combination by adding the silver toe he managed to create a design that also can be recognized in the metallic trend that we will see during the autumn/winter season as well.

Just earlier today I came across of almost an identical twin, the right shoe in the collage can now be found at any Zara store or online. As some of you already might have guessed the left shoe is a lot cheaper so if you're on a tight budget this could be a nice alternative! I might have a closer look at it tomorrow at work..

Crazy Love.

Picture: James Kaplan

Frank Sinatra, one of my personal favourite musicians, a man who has inspired me in so many ways and the reason for why I became interested in jazz music.

I have an early memory from my childhood when my father played "Fly Me To The Moon" by Sinatra on an old LP recorder. I remember that I danced vividly to it while listening to the swinging melody.

After that I've sung many of his famous melodies (My Way, New York, New York and more) at concerts and other talent shows in and outside school. Not to mention, I really do listen to his songs a lot. My absolute favourite song is the cover he did of Nat King Cole's song called "Crazy Love" also known as L.O.V.E.

I came across an article in The New York Times the other day, written about James Kaplan's story "Frank, The Voice" and I found this narrative story to be very interesting to read. There is a slight chance that it will appear on my Christmas list later this year..

"Mr. Kaplan writes with genuine sympathy for the singer and a deep appreciation of his musicianship, and unlike gossipy earlier biographers like Kitty Kelley and Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan, he devotes the better part of his book to an explication of Sinatra’s art: the real reason readers care about him in the first place." - The New York Times

Terrific Thursday.

Good morning to those of you who are awake! I just finished breakfast and I'm now admiring the lovely weather outside. Nothing but sunshine today, yay! It's been quite warm these last couple of days and I'm actually longing for similar autumn weather but with cooler temperatures.

Anyway I'm off from work today so I'm going to step out, make some errands, meet up with a few friends/colleagues of mine and we'll see how the evening ends. Reminder to oneself: Must buy a Birhtday present to E! Have a great day!

A Love Story in Fiction.

She watched Him from a distance as she walked out from her work's front door. Her heart skipped a beat and she was convinced that her knees would give in and let her fall and hit the floor. Somehow she managed to pull herself together and greeted him with a hug & a smile. She was impressed by his beautiful eyes and personal style.

She was hoping it would rain today and it did, a few tiny drops did touch the thin skin underneath her lashes as they walked side by side. She could not help the fact that she was blushing, feeling scatterbrained, lost in her own home town and with Him as her guide. His charm and sweet dialect made her want to listen to Him all day. She became speechless at one point because she simply didn't know what to say.

She woke up the next day feeling excited, nervous, happy all at the same time. She was filled with the same emotions during the evening and suddenly it became bedtime. She thought to herself, "it feels as if we have the same taste, interests and we laughed at different things". With this said she would soon fall in to sleep with a great smile upon her face, if one listens closely you can hear how her happy soul sings.

White Wardrobe.

Picture: Private - taken by me with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

I apologize for the blurry pictures in the collage but I did not manage to get the right light in my room when I took them. Anyway so this is how my two wardrobes looked like and after the make-over! :) The white colour goes perfect with my white walls and the room does feel a lot bigger now than before.

This I must say it was a very hard job with several different moments before I could even start painting the wardrobes but I could not be happier about the end result! Thanks dad for all the help & guidance you gave me before I started the project & my brother E for helping me paint the last white layer. I could not have done it without you ♥

Anyway I'm also planning on adding a few new boxes and hangers to the left wardrobe where I have most of my clothes hanging. Maybe one can find some inspiration through Internet or perhaps Zara Home might have something interesting?

Watch out.

Picture: Frame added by me - photography from Daniel Wellington

I absolutely love the design of this men's watch from the Swedish brand called Daniel Wellington. The perfect gift to either brother, boyfriend or father but also a small gift to yourself ;) I have a silver men's watch from Swatch that I've had for a few years now. In other words I'm quite used to the idea already and I've been looking at other models from GANT and Ralph Lauren as well.

I love the fact that with this watch one can switch links and therefore be able to wear different colours. Still, my personal favourite is the "Classic Cambridge" colour, as seen on the picture above. This item will definitely be on my Christmas list this year.. ;)

Restoring Rain.

I'm so happy it rained today. We've had thick clouds and humid temperatures for almost two weeks now and every tree and flower in my neighbourhood have dried out because of the lack of water. Guess I wasn't the only one smiling today as I walked through the rain while looking at a tall and beautiful birch.

Today I also finished a little project that I've been working on these last couple of days. As I've written previously my bedroom has been in focus for quite some time now since there have been a few things that I've wanted to change/redecorate. One of my ideas was to repaint my two big closets from a wooden pine to a snow white finish. I started last Sunday and finally finished today!

I cannot tell you how happy I am about the end result, it looks so beautiful and the room feels a lot bigger now. Luckily I remembered to take before and after pictures so you'll be able to see a small collage tomorrow ;) My family thought it's a bit crazy considering I'm moving out by the beginning of January but still, it will always be my room and I like the idea of coming home to a well organized and decorated room according to my taste & style.

Next step is to start saving for some new furniture, a new desk & a few other details that I have in mind. It's sad though that I'll be leaving it when it will be absolutely perfect. Guess someone will get homesick? :) Mostly because I will miss my amazing family not to mention my best friends & colleagues from work ♥ I love you ALL!

Fascination

Picture: DeviantArt

I don't know why but somehow I've always been fascinated about keys in all different shapes and sizes. To me it's like a symbol of secrets, a key to the unknown or perhaps a hidden chamber? Time to sleep, sweet dreams.

Thursday's Outfit.

Picture: Private - taken at work with my iPhone (Click to enlarge!)

Sorry for this late post but here's a picture of Thursday's outfit. Finally I have found a pair of red heels and the perfect jeans skirt (I've been looking for one with a nice cut and this one was a keeper!) I'm having a chill Saturday evening at home and I'm lovin' it :) What are you up to? Any fun plans for the evening?

I know it's not a good thing but I'm working on it..

On Sale.

Picture: Private - taken with my iPhone

Normally I never find anything good on the summer sales but yesterday I bought the two pairs above since it was 50% off! I've always wanted a pair of espadrillos such as the hot red ones in the picture so I was very happy when I found my size.

The black flats will do well for hot lazy days, finally I can get rid off another old pair of ballerinas that are completely worn out. I think I'll wear the red ones today, an outfit will probably show up later!

Awesome August.

I've always been a big fan of autumn and winter seasons this year is no exception ;) To be honest I'm a bit tired of the summer sale that is still going on but I'm thrilled over all the new autumn pieces that keeps coming in! I look forward to start wearing my boots, jeans and cosy knits. Haha my friends think I'm crazy but I guess I could never live in a country where it would be summer all year around.. I'd get so bored and I'd probably miss the other seasons!

Anyway this is my last autumn working full time before I start Uni in January. I've got a feeling that it's going to be an awesome august celebrating my best friend E's birthday, late summer party at my other best friend K's place, hanging out with family and other friends from work and many other fun activities I'm sure will show up. I've also been thinking about going away for a weekend to perhaps London some time during the fall, K are you still up for it? ;) I sure am!
